G. K. Chesterton is known for his essays, devotional works, detective stories, literary criticism and biographies--but he is not a well known poet. While Chesterton was often an excellent poet, as readers of works such as "Ballad of the White Horse" and "Lepanto" can attest, most of his poems have generally been forgotten. The poems included in "Wine, Water, and Song," which was first published in 1915, are not the heavy fare that, say, "Lepanto" is. There are some charming, light hearted poems in this collection. While often funny, Chesterton's poems offer wisdom as well as a few laughs. Chesterton's fans will enjoy the book. Still, readers who are not as familiar with the author might fight the often repetitive style a bit wearying. Reader encountering Chesterton for the first time would probably do better elsewhere.Product details

A must read.
Have read a lot of references to Chesterton's writings. This is the first piece I've tried to read of his, and not really too impressed. Just kind of weird.
order and it was there in seconds.
Didn't order this.
A decent collection. Pretty short and does bot have all of the cool kindle features like hyper-linked table of contents etc.
If you are looking for 9-10 of the ballad-ish poems in the English language, stop here. Great memorization material for young students or some nerd showing off in a bar of nerds.
GKC is the master. This short collection does not show his breadth as a poet like some of the other collected works (all the same kind of feel to them) but good for what it is, a small, free, digital copy of a handful of a few good poems.
